The Helldorado Parade & Rodeo will be in May this year. The parade is scheduled for May 15. We will again be asking for volunteers to help with the Rodeo, and of course, our volunteers to march in the parade. We are planning to have all of the Citizen Corps volunteers march together, including CERT, Metro Police Volunteers and Medical Reserve Corps. This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our volunteer organizations, and to have our volunteers receive some well deserved recognition from the community. |

Arrangements are being made for NOAA to give another Skywarn class for CERT graduates. We are trying for a facility that has a larger seating capacity so that all of you who were disappointed at not getting into the last class can now participate. This class will be on May 3, 2010 at 6 pm, location TBD. Save the date, an "all call" will be forthcoming shortly. |

We are arranging an additional training opportunity for our graduates through NOAA for a Skywarn class. It will be held at their facility, time and date TBD. Skywarn teaches you how to spot potential severe weather, and upon graduation, you will be given a spotter number to help report weather difficulties throughout the valley, and in other areas. This class will be limited in size, as the facility only has room for 20 participants. Enrollment will be on a first come, first served basis. We will then notify those registered. Please do not just "show up" as seating is limited. Details will be forthcoming shortly in an ENS broadcast. |

The November 10th drill in North Las Vegas will be a natural disaster event. This will affect a major industry in the area. Many of the North Las Vegas entities will participate, along with City of Las Vegas, Clark County, and some of our major Non-profits and private industry.
The available roles will be victims, evacuated residents, etc. Some will be dead, some to be transported to local hospitals, wet and dry decon, some evacuated to a shelter, some to self-evacuate. We will have some stuffed animal toys that will be used to complicate the evacuation by residents bringing them to the shelter. These toys will then be donated to local charitable organizations.
We are asking for a large turnout, as our intent is to swamp the hospital and shelter. We will be broadcasting an all call on the ENS shortly, giving directions and roles, for sign up. We will also have a sign up sheet for the present classes. We are asking for a firm commitment as we need to have hard numbers for the drill.
This drill should be a great deal of fun for the volunteer victims, as the role play will be as close to realism as we can make it. Please sign up if you feel you can participate, as we need all of our volunteers that are able to “come and play”. |

Upcoming Events & News you can use!
Thank you all for your response to the call for help for the N. Las Vegas & Boulder City National Night Out. NLV contacted us to say how pleased they were with the number of volunteers that responded.
There will be a large scale drill for NLV on November 10. It will be a daytime exercise. We will need many victims on the site, people to be transported to the hospital, people to go to a shelter, people that won’t mind either wet (bathing suit under your clothes) or dry decon. Please save the date.
Please keep an account of your hours when you participate in any of the events, drills, etc. Just email Page when you have a moment. We need to track them.
A reminder to please let us know if any of your contact information changes. We can’t let you know what is going on if we can’t get in touch with you!!
